Kingsford Smith, gratefully acknowledging) thefr generosity, declares that it ha unnecessary as he can have a test flight within a week, and reach Sydney within three weeks. Although Smith is hopeful to he able to start within a week, engineers are of opinion that he is too’ optimistic, the whole fuselage must Jfe dismantled and rebuilt, even if the overhaul disclosed no other damage. This cannot he completed in under three weeks, and normally takes six weeks. INQUIRY WAIVED. LONDON, December 23. Repairs t 0 the Southern Star will he facilitated by the Air Ministry’s decision not to hold an inquiry such as is customary before a wrecked plane is moved, the officials regarding the nature of the accident as being clearly apparent.
