CLAIM BY POWER BOARD. CHARGES FOR PARISH HALL. ELTHAM, December 22. At the Eltham Court to-day, a. claim by the Taranaki Power Board lor over £8 availability tate‘on the Parish Hail property was defended by ■ the Most Rev. Dr. Francis' Redwood, Roman Cathiolic Archbishop. Council for the board held that as hall was used for public functions ' and entertainments it did not come under the exemption clause. Defendant stated that the hall had originally been a school until it became too. small for that purpose, but it was still used for teaching, singing, and dancing, items included in the school’s curriculum. Further, all entertainments were held solely under the auspices of and by the Catholic Church the proceeds being in aid of tlie school, for which the parish was responsible. Decision was reserved by Mr Tate, v S;M. " ;
