The fireballs rang out an alarm of fire about 25 minutes after midnight. It was raining very heavily at tile time and the bells did not sound out as well as usual, though all' rang out the alarm. The scene of the outbreak was an old four roomed cottage in Park Street on the east side of Eitzherbert Street, opposite Mr Guthrey’s residence. It was occupied by Mr E. Breeze until two days ago, and at the time of the outbreak was unoccupied. The place was smouldering for some time and .just after the alarm was given the flames broke through* but the Brigade almost immediately had the water on and the .fire was soon overcome and extinguished. The place was owned by Mr Patrick Kirwan, whose stable with several trotting horses therein adjoined. The horses were all got out safely. The building was gutted “in two rooms principally the kitchen. The building was insured in the Victoria Office for £IOO. Parisian Ties, Godwin and Sehvyn fancy soxs make suitable Xmas gifts.
