ALLUVIAL GOLD

DUSKY SOUND AREAS i i

UNEMPLOYMENT SUBSIDY

WELLINGTON, December 18

As a result of the utilisation of unemployment funds for the- encouragement 'of prospecting for minerals a report' was recently submitted to- the Mines Department by the- leader 01 a prospecting party which had worked 'in the Dusky Sound district.

Samples of various mineralised rocks are being investigated by the Dominion Laboratory, and already there is sufficient justification for a- decision to send out early in the new year a party which will begin work on two areas ■whore it is believed that the men will make good wages on an alluvial gold deposit.

In addition to this activity, another group will be sent to Fanny Cove and Chalky Inlet to follow up the work of a prospecting party, while another area in Barn Bay district is to he similarly investigated by a party assisted from - unemployment funds, ■subject to the usual conditions. The joint efforts of the Unemployment Board and Mines Department, in bonjunction with a local committee at Thames have resulted in a fairly large development of a system of prospecting under supervision.

Always in madam’s travelling bag—a bottle of No. 65 Lavender Water. Delightfully fragrant and refreshing. Priced from 2s' 6d to 22s 6d. All chemists.— Advi.
