WHEAT PRICES
FOR NEW CROP
(by Telegraph —Per Press Association 1 CHRISTCHURCH, December 21. The prices of wheat from the 1932 crop, under the new marketing scheme, were announced to-day. The rates will lie as follows: — 4 85 per bushed f.o.h. at Lytteßoii, Tirnaru and Oamaru, for fair average quality Tuscan. 4/10$ per bushel for Hunters. 5/0$ per bushel for Pearl, The brokerage is being included in each case. These values represent a 20 per cent, decline on the 1931 prices. Tli© corresponding “on trucks” values will be: 4/4, 4/6 and 4/9 per bushel, respectively, out of which one penny per bushel will have to be paid into the proposed Equalisation Fund, under the proposed sliding scale of duties. ’ It is said to be impossible' for the flour millers to sell flour at under the price of £l3/12/- per ton f.o.h. Lyttelton, Tirnaru and Oamaru ; and that this price will not permit of more than the foregoing prices beins paid for the wheat. The Wheat Marketing Board considers that on© penny per bushel will he sufficient to meet all contingencies, and this amount will he deducted' from the value of all wheat sold. It is anticipated that more than a half-penny per bushel' will be returned to the growers later in the season, and that, ; in the event of a substantial rise in the prices for bran and pollard, the whole penny per bushel may he paid out at tlie end of the season. The price of corn sacks to farmers «- ;, l Iv Irl t>ach. and the farmer will be credited tenpence when the sacks are returned filled with grain.
