PRISONER ESCAPES
A DANGEROUS CRIMINAL. FLIGHT EFFECTED FROM HOSPITAL. (By Telegraph —Ber Brest Association) AUCKLAND, December 21. A man serving a long prison sentence and regarded by the police a>s a dangerous criminal, Thomas William Wilson, aged 26, escaped last night from Auckland Hospital, whence no was removed on Thursday from prison, suffering from internal trouble. t Nobody saw him go. _ He was in bed at 10 o’clock and about 10.30 o’clock, the house adjoining the hospital grounds was entered, presumably by the escapee, and a pair of grey trousers and a black and white check coat were stolen from a room on the balcony where two young men were sleeping. Wilson is 5 feet 7 inches high, has a fresh complexion, brown hair, and blue eves. The right eye is nearly closed by cataract. He was sentenced at Dunedin last June 18th. to a total of five years’ hard labour, followed by reformative detention. Justice Kennedy then said that in six months, Wilson had stolen goods worth £4791, of which £3OOO in jewellery had not been recovered, and the proceeds of which, most likely, he hoped to enioy when, released. The Judge said he regarded prisoner as a callous, brutal and.dangerous man.
