COUNTRY DISTRICTC DELUGED. (By Telegraph —Per Press Association) PALMERSTON N., December 21. v ..An electrical storm was experienced in the country districts adjacent to Palmerston North yesterday morning, there being a phenomenal downpour between Taikorea and Rangiotu. At Kopane, five cows, the property of Mr T. Leen, were killed, presumably from concussion through lightning, for investigation failed to disclose any signs of a. direct strike. At Kairanga a large pinus insignus tree was struck, portions being thrown fifty yards away, some landing in the garden of ;i private residence, destroying valuable shrubs.
