Wood full •and Rigg batting solidly, carried Australia’s score to ten short of South (Africa s tot|il before the captain • lost his wicket. When in the forties, Rigg was twice dropped by Cameron in Bell’s second over to-day. At lunch the visitors’ total had been passed. After the adjournment, Bradman and Rigg increased the scoring fate. The fatter reached the ■ ‘coveted century after batting . for .192 minutes. [He had never been really comfortable, but this innings should play him into form. The first hundred had taken 112 minutes, and the second 1 undred ninety-eight minutes.
Bradman was moving along with his usual freedom, despite accurate bowling. He reached fifty runs in eightyfive minutes. Beil, who had bowled well, -but with bad luck, then claimed Rigg’s wicket, He had been bat. ting 240 minutes, and hit thirteen lorn*.
The next hundred came up in sixtynine minutes, with Bradman and McCabe going great guns. Bradman reached his hundred in 147 minutes. This is his fourth successive century against the 'South Africans, thus beating MacCartney’s record of three. Bradman then had a lash, and he was caught in the outfield. He hit ten fours.
-McCabe and Nitschke scored quicKly ill the concluding stages. With a lead of 291 runs, and three wickets in hand, Australia is in almost an unbeatable position.
