CHRISTMAS CHEER COLLECTION, . (By Telegraph— ZW ßress Association) CHRISTCHURCH. December 18. The Rotary Club’s street collection for Xmas cheer for the poor families, realised £IOOB 15s 6d. Subscriptions in advance from friends and members totalled £257. The total in hand is £1265 15s 6d. There is to be a band concert to-morrow, which will swell the total. The amount from all sources last vear was £1155 15s. A , NEW ORGAN. OAMARU, December 17 A magnificent organ built on the specification of Dr. Bradshaw, ol Christchurch, and erected in the Hall of Memories at 1 Waitaki Boys’ High School, was handed over last night by Mr A. W. Mass, president of the v Old Boys’ Association, to the Board cf Governors. The organ cost £2.800, the (money being raised by the effort of the Old Boys’ Association.
DOUBLE GAS TRAGEDY. .DUNEDIN. December 18. Stating that the case was one m which the veil could not be lifted, and that any definite finding would be a mere matter of speculation, Coroner Bartholomew, S.M., returned an open verdict at the adjourned inquest today on Robert Joseph Norman and his wife. Lydia May Norman, whose bodies were found in a gas-filled room South Dunedin, on Tuesday last.
