QUESTION OF QUOTA. (British Official Wireiess.) RUGBY, December 17. The Government’s proposal for a quota on wheat was discussed at VV'hitehall to-day, when Mr J. H. Thomas and Sir John Gihnour received a deputation from the Liverpool Coi'ii trade Association. A communique states that in reply to a question regaHliiig the reported statement by the Canadian Prime Minister as to the proposed amount of the Empire quota, Mr Thomas said there had been no decision as to the amount of Empire quota, by l-ahmet. indeed, Mr Bennett had himself made it clear that the percentages he mentioned were pure.y his own estimates.
A general discussion ensued, particularly as 'to the difficulties m connection with the Liverpool futures market, and the deputation handed in a letter and memorandum on the subject. During the discussion, Air Thomas said lie wished to make it clear that subject to the outcome of proceedings at the Ottawa Conference, the intention of the Government was that there should be a quota. Subject to that he suggested the Association should appoint representatives to help the Government in hammering otit the details of. the scheme. To this, the tlfeputatiop agreed.
