WELLINGTON, December 16,

A meeting of the local Government Loans Board dealt with forty-six. applications for loans totalling £476,849. Loans amounting to £382,800, were sanctioned, including £331,375, renewals; £18,550, new loans; £11,300, loans for restoration of earthquake damage and £21,575, for unemployment. ■The sum of £10,475 on unexpended balances of previous loans was authorised to be used for other purposes. The balance, namely £83.574. of the amount submitted to the meeting, was either declined or referred hack to the local authority concerned for further consideration.
