“Why can’t I get a fignt without being hit low?” said Kid Berg, after being awarded a contest for the junior welterweight world title, which, was fought against the French lightweight champion, Marius Baudry, who ceased fighting, pleading that his arm was injured.
Bel-g added: “Luckily, I was wearing a metal guard, bought in America, or I would,, be in the hospital.” A crowd which packed the Albert Hall cheered Berg, and they booed Baudry when he was leaving the ring. The referee, in the first round, warned Baudry not to hit low. A moment kv.er Berg was on his knees, -groaning, and shouts of "Foul ■” arose. The .referee again, warned Baudry.
Berg leaped’’ o ut of his corner in the second round, and, fighting -furiousiy, downed the Frenchman, who rose and fiercely retaliated. Berg caught Baudry ou the jaw in the fifth round, and, seeing him distressed, attacked him ferociously. Suddenly, Baudry turned away, holding his wrist. This caused a pandemonium. The doctor, later, announced ' that Baudry had torn his shoulder muscle.
