TO SUPPLEMENT RESOURCES. BY GARDENING. The Deputy Chairman of the Unemployment Board lias issued the following by circular to local bodies utilising unemployment labour, directing that after the Ist January relief workers are to assist themselves by establishing their own gardens for growing supplies: \ ‘ ‘The Unemployment Board has been considering the necessity for workers to provide themselves;. ,as far as possible with the necessaries of life outside the relief contributed by the general public through the unemployment funds. The Board intends to lequest workers on unemployment relief so far as they are able to help themselves. It is desired therefore, that steps be taken to see that workers cultivate in their own times areas of ground they are occupying whether as owners or tenants, for the purpose of growing vegetables, thereby assisting to maintain themsel-
