GANDHI’S POLICY
A WORSE BOYCOTT. THREAT AGAINST BRITAIN. (United Press Asboumtion.—By Electne Teiegrapn.—Lopyrignt.J ROME, December 15. Mr Gandhi, though lie steadiastly refused to .see British journalists, gave interviews with other journalists, in which he made more sweeping declarations than he ever ventured to make in London. Mr Gandhi said: “We will not pa,, taxes. We won’t work for Britain. We will completely isolate the Britisn authorities and institutions. India would certainly be crushed if she resorted to violence, but she has enormous reserves, which Britain cannot ignore, in the shape of passive resistance. Every kind of British goods will lie boycotted, will be a powerful aggravation of the already-set-ions British financial situation and unemployment,” He added: “For Us the Round Table Conference was a long-drawn-out agony, but it proved to England the spirit of India and it laid bare Britain’s leal intentions.” i
AUDIENCE REFUSED BY POPE. ROME, December 15. The Pope has refused to grant an audience to Mr Gandhi. IMPORTATION OF ARMS. DEEP CONSPIRACY REVEALED. CALCUTTA, December 15. Throe seizures of arms were made in Calcutta at the week-end, They revealed a widespread conspiracy for the importation of arms into India, ft is believed that the arms were then brought by boats from China, and were unloaded secretly at Sunderbans at the mouth of the river.
