Over 40 lives were lost in one of j the worst storm in the Mediteranean experienced for several years. The Italian naval 'Salvage ship Tesee foundered near Sardinia and thirtysix were, drowned. The cruiser Trieste rescued one hundred and ten, of whom
■ four were injured. . , Four survivors of the French subAis marine chaser, No. 96, v , which foundered off Algiers, reached safety after a terrible march over sand dunes and scrub. -A fifth survivor died of exhaustion, and. the. sixth is feared to have been lost in. the scrub. Seven "more are missing., . ' Many fishing boats are missing and their crews are feared to be drowned, v»A gale destroyed houses at Bezerte. ' ' AH communications, have been interrupted.
