XMAS GRANT
FOR UNEMPLOYED. (By Telegraph—Per Press Association) ■WELLINGTON, December 8. The sum of £16,000 has been set aside by the Unemployment Board as a special grant for Christmas relief for the unemployed, according to a statement made by the Minister in Charge of unemployment, Mr Coates, to-night.
In addition, it. has been decided to distribute supplies of. meat . that are at present held by the Government, to families who require food. An urgent appeal has been made by Mr Coates to private persons throughout the country to give at least one day’s work to those seeking it.
