HOKITIKA SWIMMING CLUB
A meeting of the Committee of in© above Club was held at County Chambers at 7.35 o’clock last evening. Present-:—Messrs D. J. Evans (President), Houston, Lawn, Bergamioi, Collett, McGavin, Rochford, Lynn, Andrewes, Parkhiil, Tomlinson, Heenan and Houston jnr. (Hon Sec.l Mr Lawn welcomed the Chairman on his return to better health and duty. Air Evans acknowledged the Lind reception Air Lawn’s remarks. The correspondence included, letters from the West Coast Swimming Centre suggesting, the appointment of Messrs Bruce and Bailey as Centre delegates—Agreed to; ■ Notifying blazers for holders of senior titles were now available, and supplying particulars of standard dives for nien and
women. —Agreed to. j The Hon. Secretary reported tne. recent dance recital was a success financially, and the balance sheet would | be compiled and forwarded to the Com ' missioner of Stamps.—Approved. j Votes of thanks were passed to Afiss f'Thwaites and all who had-contributed | to the marked success of’ the benefit, i including the Band. 1 Accounts to the amount of £22 10s j Id were passed for payment, ‘the settlement of which would leave a small credit balance. The result was considered eminently satisfactory By the Committee members.
Air Lawn reported regarding ine school 1 * classes for instruction in swimming. Classes of five pupils would be under a separate instructor, the names of whom with the classes would be posted a;t the pavilion. Instructions in swimming will be started as soon as possible.
It was resolved to arrange for the Stopforth Cup to be devoted to the primary scholars of the district, south of the Arahura river. A relay race of three rounds (four in each team) will be arranged, the result to be decided on points. The cup will be held by the winning school for the year, and the members of the winning team will each receive a miniature cup.
It was notified that Mrs Moore, "Revell Street, and Mr J. J. Mclntosh were each donating trophies for competition'.— Accepted With thanks. The question of revising the rules for the Newman Cup was raised, and Messrs Houston, Lawn, and Tomlinson were appointed a sub-com-mittee to const : -r the matter and report at next meeting of the Committee.
