BOXING

CONTESTS AT BLENHEIM. (By Telegraph-r-Per Frets Association) BLENHEIM, December 6. Two valiant boys in Harry Lister, (Greymouth) 11.71, and Joe Tierney (Blenheim) 12.10 put on a terrific glove battle over 15 rounds here last night. The contest ended in a technical knockout victory for Lister in the final session. It was a willing mill over the whole distance, being packed with more thrills and action than is usually characterised of professional contests. Tierney, who was making his first appearance in the cash ranks, made the early fighting, but over the concluding rounds Lister had a lead on points. He. downed Tierney four times before the end with vicious clean punches. Tom Croft, the New Zealand amateur middleweight champion, defeated Alex. Dasler, Blenheim, in a good fight.
