CLEVER TRICKSTERS
STEALING RADIO SETS. ROBBERIES IN LONDON. A gany of clever tricksters, taking advantage of the Post Office hunt for radio pirates dn the London area, lias been robbing unsuspecting people of their sets. The gang’s methods aisp disarmingly simple. Its members equipped themselves with a vehicle resembling the special “detection van” used by the Post Office officials in their search for unlicensed listeners. Calling at a house when the husband is at work, the tricksters tell the wife that they are Post Office wireless inspectors and wish to see the wireless se'b. After malting a, proftendjedj examination, they inform the wife or maidservant that the set has been causing interference and needs some slight adjustment which they can effect at once. “We shall have to take it into our van for a few minutes,” the men say, “for we have all the necessary tools there.” They take the set out, place ft in the van, and drive off.
