WESTLAND CONTEST. MESSAGES TO MR CREENSLADE . i ,3 . The following telegrams-have been received by Mr J. W. Greenslade, in connection with the contest for tho Westland Seat:— From Mr G. W. I should, however, like to express my sincere appreciation of the efforts of the members of your committees and cf the assistance and cooperation of friends and supporters of the Government in your electorate. Kind regards.” From Mr J. 0. Contes (Reform Leader)“Regret you could not pull it off, but much appreciate your effort and the result, Kind regards.”

From Mr E. A. Ransom (Minister of Lands): —“Although you were n r t successful, I desire to congratulate you and your committees on behalf of the Coalition Party. The general result- must be regarded as very satisfactory. Kind regards.’’ From Air E. Masters, M.L.C.: —“I •deeply regret that you were unsuccessful at the poll yesterday. The splendid fight which you put up against a strong opponent, under most adverse circumstances, is very much appreciated, arc) 1 should lake to convey to you, your committees, and those associated .with you, my sincere thanks for the efforts which were made to secure a representative of a sound and stable Government for Westland.”
