ACCUSED IN COURT. PROMPTED BY COMMUNISTS. (By Telegraph —ter Brets Association) WELLINGTON, December 2. The case against Robert William Norman, who smashed eight panes of glass in the drapery establishment of James Smith, Ltd., was proceeded with to-day. Accused, who is 62 years of age, was stated by Police-Seargeant Paine, to have been under the influence of liquor at time. On the way to the police station he said lie had been depressed owing to the sudden death of his wife. He was out of work, and had no money. He also said he had been to a Communist meeting on the Sunday night previously, and was the room mate of a Communist. He had just been discharged from gaol. It had been arranged that he should break a jewellery window, but he decided to break a drapery window instead.

In reply to the Magistrate, accused said that lie told the Sergeant that he did not know that it was a. Communist meeting he was going to, but thought it was a political meeting of Mr Peter Fraser’s.
