INVERCARGILL,' November 30

Arthur Thornton Hind, married, aged 50, of the Craig Printing Company, was found dead in a' Workroom, near a gas stove, There was an overcoat over his head, Hind haiFbeen in ill-health and depressed.

VERDICT OF SUICIDE. TIMAR.IT, November 30, > Roderick McKenzie, a farmer at Cannington, aged 47, was found dead in. a shed on his farm yesterday morning. A double-barrelled gun lay alongside him. At the inquest, medical evidence was that McKenzie had suffered from insomnia since returning from the war. The Coroner '(Mr C. R. Orr-Wal-ker) returned a verdict that death was. due to a gunshot wound self-inflicted whilst in a depressed state.

FATALITY AT WAIHI PICNIC. TIMARU, November 30. A verdict of accidental death: caused through a tree- falling upon deceased’s chest, thus causing asphyxia, was returned at the inquest on Evelyn Muriel Mills held - to-day before the Coroner, Mr C. R. Orr Walker.

Mrs Mills, with her husband and a companion, Mrs Isabella Meechin, went to the Waihi River for a picnic on No : vember 15. Whilst Mrs Mills and Mrs Meechin were sitting under a willowtree, it collapsed, a large bough falling on Mrs Mills and killing her instantly.
