MAN KILLED
ANOTHER BADLY INJURED.
TRAIN CRASHES INTO LORRY,

CHRISTCHURCH, December 2
William. Hobman Cook, a butcher, of Christchurch, was killed, and Johu Wilson,,^ ai salesman, seriously injured, wdien tljej motor-truck in which they were riding was struck by a train at the Styx crossing, late yesterday afternoon. V,
Wilson, it is believed, was deujqjitv strating the truck to Cook. Other vehicles were waiting for the train to pass and the flash signals were operating. It is said the truck was swung right round completely, and Cook, the driver, was flung clear into a cattle stop by the rails. His head was smashed, while Wilson was caught and dragged under the engine. He was carried right across the cattle stop to the points beyond. His head was injured, and his left ankle was alniost 1 severed, while his chest was severely injured.
