During the storm on Monday afternoon Mr Frank A’Court, Uv'ng in Durham Street went up on to the roof of His Lordship’s Hotel, J 4.11field Street, to sweep the hail away. So intent was he on his sweeping that he forgot about a skylight- let into the roof. Moving backwards, he stepped on to it, and amid a splintering of glass, fell through on to two barrels twelve feet below. He was fortunate in escaping with a few bruises.

An Angora rabbit, the property of a 'Christchurch- man, has produced a strange litter, comprising three greys and three blacks. When these were’ a few days ofd, they were shown to a Pekinese dog, another family pet. The dog carried out a very careful examination and decided -that he approved of the six small rabbits. He licked them all over and showed resentment when they were removed. Now, when they are taken out of <the hutch, he promptly claims them from the mother and while they are allowed to run on the lawn, he takes charge of them, keeping a few close to him. So attached has the dog become to the rabbits that it is only with difficulty that he can be separated from them.
A meeting of the Hokitika Library Committee was held last evening 'at 7.39 o’clock. Present: Messrs D. J. Evans (Chairman), W. Wilson, J, Niven, H. M. Coulson, H. G. Coles. Apologies were received from Mr T. W. Duff and Dr. Teichelmann. respondence was read and received. Accounts to the amount of £l4 3s lOd were passed for payment. Air Cote? reported in respect to the accounts, and. was 1 thanked fey his attention to same. The gift of two oil paintings of full rigged ships from Air G. Lakin was received with thanks. The pictures will be hung in the magazine room. The Reading Committee was authorised to order additional monthly magazines for subscribers. Some attention to the building and premises was authorised, and the meeting adjourned at 8 p.m.
