UNTRUCKING STOP

IMPROVED METHODS AT ADDINGTON.

The arrangements existing hitherto at the Addington Saleyards for the trucking and -untrue-king o.t sheep and lambs have never proved satisfactory.. In untrucking, lambs it has been lound that bruising was caused by their jumping off and falling from a sloping platform, which had no sides to prevent the iambs jumping off. W cen the lambs, were being removed from The tops decks the trouble was aggravated. A new idea, evolved bv the secretary of the Canterbury Saleyards Company, Mr Arnaud McKellar, and workmen emloyed at the yards, has been , applied with successful results. The sloping, loading and unloading stage has been epuinped with sides high enough to keep the stock from jumping out,,bnt the most useU improvement is that the stage can he worked at ‘any angle. The sta e withe pivoted on to a four-wheeled carriage on rails enabling it to be removed from one truck to another. There will be no risk of it being damaged' if struck by a railway truck, as it will merely swing out of the way. The contrivance, should be of decided ..value in preventing injury to. fat sheep and lambs. '
