MONDAY, NOVEMBER 30th. 2YA SELECTIONS. This being St. Andrew’s Day, the “Musical Portrait” will be ot' Scottish music. Amy Woodward will sing “ Twas Within a Mile of Edinboro' Town” and ‘‘Coming’ Thru’ the Rye.” Mrs Wilfred Andrews will sing ‘‘Casti’es in the Air” and “Angus McDonald.” Gordon Short will play “Coronach,” and there will also be a few minutes talk in Gaelic bv a representative of the Caledonian Society. The Orchestrion will pi ay “Reminiscences of Scotland,” and all will join in singing "Auld Lang iSyne.” Another feeiture of the evening's programme will be the singing of three of Brahms’s beautiful “Songs of Love’’ waltzes by a quartet composed of Amy Woodward, Wilfred Andrews, Ray Trewern, and Keith Grant. This combination will also sing the famous "Rigoletto Quartette.” Amy Woodward and Keith Grant .will sing "Vision Fugitive,” from Massenet’s opera, “Herodiade,” while Ray Trewern will be heard in “Absent” and two operatic numbers. CHRISTCHURCH TOPICS. The W.E.A. lecturer will be Mr Robert M. Laing, M.A., 8.-Sc., speaking on “Present Dangers to European Peace.” Cerebrating St. Andrew’s Day, a (Scottish {concert will be broadcast. ■The old familiar songs so dear to Scottish hearts will be sung and the old •tunes played. A Highland piper, PipeM a ; or' J. A. Paterson, will contribute to the melody of the evening. An instrumental programme will be provided 'U- -ho f'hristr'huroK Broadcasting Trio and the New Brighton Municipal Band. DUNEDIN FEATURES. At 7.40, Mr D. Tannock, Superintendent, Reserves, will give a talk entitled “Observations on the Climatic Conditions of Dunedin.” The subject of the lecture on the evening’s programme will be “Education and the Saving Forces of Civilisation,” the speaker being Dr Alexander Salmond, ■M.A., Ross Fellow, Knox College. TUESDAY, DECEM BER Ist. JOTTINGS FROM AUCKLAND. At- 7.30 p.m. the Rev. W. G. Monckton,, MjA., will speak from IYA under the auspices of the W.E.A., his subject being “Some International Probfems—(Russia, Part 1.” The speaker on the International Programme will be 'Mr A. B. Chappell, M.A., who will take for his subject “The Press and the World.” 2YA NOTES. The 2YA Salon Orchestra will supply the instrumental portion of the evening's popular programme. Tom ■Cooper (bass), an Aucklander, and a newcomer to 2YA, should prove an acquisition. He wifl s’ng ‘The Eloral ‘.Dance,” “The Dawg.” and - “Asleep ’Neath the Dark Blue Wave.” Florence Penney will again delight listeners in songs at the piano A feature of the programme will be a one-act play, “The Imposter” (by Scott), produced by Victor -S. Lloyd. The play should create more than passing interest. It has a New Zealand setting, and was one of the prize-winners during the recent “Radio Record • Play Writing Competition. COMMENTS FROM 4YA. “Adult Education per medium of the Wireless” will be the, W.E.A. talk by Mr Lloyd Ross. A relay of concerts to be given by the Dunedin Philharmonic Society under Signor Squarise will take place. WE D NESD AY. DEC EMBER 2n d. All stations will be broadcasting election results to-night.
