YOUNG BOY DROWNED. By Telegraph—Per Press Association) THAMES, November 30. Alexander McDonald, junior, aged 13 years, grandson of Mr W. McDonald of Poukowii, Hawke’s Bay, was drowned in the Tapu Stream, near Thames coast on Saturday afternoon. He could not .swim but was accustomed to paddling in the shallow portion- of the stream opposite his parent’s home. The father found the body in a deep pool, and applied artificial respiration, but with no avail. The Coroner returned a verdict of accidentally drowned. VERDICT OF SUICIDE. CHRISTCHURCH, November 30. At the inquest upon William McCausland, a single man, aged 34 years, a labourer, who died, at the Police Station on November 7th, while beaig questioned, a verdict was returned of suicide through poisoning. The Coroner Mr E. D. Mosley said that it was perfectly clear that the man took his own life, 'and" that no blame was attachable to any of the police officials. Evidence was given of the man being questioned regarding the issue of valueless cheques.
