LONDON, November 28

Ticket holders in the Irish -Sweep residing in the Home countries, won £230,000. Four of the big prizes go ■elsewhere ‘in England. Four go to Scotland and two to Canada. One (first prize each goes to Ireland and (South Africa. A ticket in the name of an eleven-months-old baby, Jean Blythe, drew Northdrift, and won £30,000. The purchaser, Mrs Moss, of Chester, is Jean’s grandmother, and shares lial? of the ticket -with Jean’s mother, because they sold half to Xorthdrift’s owner for £7OO.

Mr R. W. Macey, of Faversham, a labourer, became a teetotaller when the price of beer was raised. He. saved his pennies and bought a ticket, with which he has won £30,000 on Northdrift. With the money he intends to bring back his sons from America, where they have not been successful.

Mrs Tuck well, who is workless, in London, and is a. widow, wins £15,000, after selling hall of her ticket for £BOO.

Other 'holders of placed horses also sold a half share in their tickets. . The first action, of Mrs ' Banker, aged 77 years, who has won £15,000 on Signifier, will be' to take her husband to visit her son’s war grave in France..

There was a record field tor the Manchester November Handicap. The race was to settle the destiny of £1,045,00 of the Irish Sweepstake prize money.

The horses considered prior to the race to have outstanding chances were British Sailor, Rockstar, -Residue, Redeswood and North Drift.

NORTH DRIFT WINS WELL

LONDON, November 28. The Manchester, November Handicap resulted ; North Drift 1 Signifier 2 Paid 3

Forty-one horses scrambed for victory in the November Handicap. Lord Bill refused to start.

British Sailor was the first to take the lead, but he was outstripped by North Drift, Signifier and others, who emerged from the midst of the field three furlongs, from home. North Drift then took command, and gallantly won the event by hail' a length. Behind the third horse came Redeswood (who dead heated with North Drift in the Manchester Cup) and lie was just beaten for a place. The winner is owned by J. T. Downing. a Sheffield commission agent. This is his third win on this course. The time was 2.52 4-5.
