JUDGMENT BY DEFAULT.

Judgment by default wag given in the following .cases: —Westland Hospital Board v. J. Gambirazzi £3 12s and costs £1 5s 6dj P. J. Kirwan v. R. G. Honey £49 13s 3d and costs £4 3s 6tl; Same v. Bert Searle £3 4s (md- costs £1 5s 6d. CLAIM FOR TAXES. Tile Commissioner of Taxes proceeded 'against Win. McCluggage, claiming 03 7s 4d. Defendant was ordered to pay. the amount together with costs. ON PREMISES AFTER HOURS. The Police proceeded . against a defendant for being on the premises of Rost Office Hotel ..after hours. He was ordered to pay costs. .For being in the Masonic Hotel after hours, another resident was faced with two charges. He pleaded guilty to one and not guilty to the other. After ■Constables Randall and Dougherty had given evidence, defendant, after a lengthy defence, was ordered to pay costs on each charge. WILFUL DAMAGE. Charged with wilfully damaging tele, graph insulators, Richard Ohesterman and Allan Singer appeared. Mr Elcock appeared for defendants, and entered a plea of guilty. Defendants were ordered to pay 10s costs, and to pay for the repairs. BREACHES OF BY-LAWS. For riding a bicycle without a light, Florence A. Thompson was fined os and costs., . . ■ >. S. Dale was charged with not having a drivers license and was fined £1 and costs. ... CLAIM AND COUNTER-CLAIM. Roger Clifton Sunjtey, of Wellington, sought to recover the sum of £8 from Mrs J. A. Ferguson, of Hariharj, being instalments duie under an agreement made between the parties in October, ,1930. Defendant, counter-claimed for £2l 13s, being the amount of deposit and stamp duty paid to plaintiff. Piantiff approached defendant with a scheme for the purchasing of property in Wellington. She had agreed to buy, hut later found that the facts in the agreement had been fraudulently represented.

Evidence was also given by four residents of South Westland, who had also invested in similar property each declaring the conditions concerning the properties were not such n>s were given to be understood by plaintiff’s representative <
