LATE LOCALS
A trial against time by Harold Logan at Forbury Park Dunedin, on Thursday has been arranged to take place at 2.55 p.m., iust after the third race. It is probable that the galloper Filosol, to be a pacemaker, and it is generally expected that Harold Logan will record sensational figures.
When the Aorangi was corning into Auckland on Monday morning, a school of porpoises was playing about near Beau Rock. They do not usually come so far into the harbour, but the officers of the ship declared that they were probably a detachment of a great migration of sea life that has come into New Zealand waters. After passing the Three Rings; on her ivav from Sydney, the Aorangi ran into immense shoals of fish, of all sizes and species, the larger preying on the smaller, from sharks and swordfish clown to herrings. The too. were having a fat time, and several whales, even, were sighted. Overhead hovered thousands of Seabirds, practically every species in the southern hemisphere ie ng represented, all taking their 101 l of the migrating fish. The officers of the ship were agreed that never, in all their years at sea, had they seen such an immense concourse of ocean life.
