SHOT DEAD
ROBBER KILLED BY BANK MANAGER. SENSATION AT REMUERA. (By Telegraph —Per Press Association) AUCKLAND, November 24. The Manager of the Remuera branch of the Bank of New Zealand. (Mr Youngs) shot a robber dead at 12.20 to-day. A young man entered tbe bank and handed a document to the manager to read. While the manager was reading it, he struck him over the bead with a stocking filled with sand. Though dazed the. manager seized a revolver nearby and fired a shot at the robber who ran towards, the door. The manager staggered after him and reached the door. He cried "Stop thief.” The man had rushed op to the street when the manager fired again and the man crumpled up on tbe footpath. He was lifted up and carried into the bank dead. LATER. The name of the Bank officer is Mr F. H. T. Youngs. He was in charge of the Remuera office' which is a receiving depot for deposits. The name of dead man is iiot yet known by the police. It is reported that Mr Youngs said, after the affair, that the man had been in the Bank earlier in the' morning. He believed his first shot killed the man.
