CROWN JEWELS
SENSATION IN" DENMARK. COPENHAGEN, Nov. 17. A somewhat unpleasant experience befell a party of British tourists from the steamei Atlantis while inspecting in Copenhagen the collection of Crown jewels in the Castle of Rosenborg. The . guide accidentally touched the glass'of the Cabinet, or otherwise set off the defensive measures installed for the protection of the jewels. There was an instantaneous and deafening outburst of howling sirens an c f jangling hells, and then the entire cabinet sank through the floor, leaving a gaping hole.
All the doors of the apartment automatically closed, and the attendant in the room, drawing his revolver, commanded all present to stand still. CarIpads of police, who had been automatically alarmed, rushed up in fast cars and surrounded the castle. Explanations finally resulted in the party being released, and all left filled with respect for the remarkable efficiency of the system of guarding Denmarks’s regalia.
