SOUTH AFRICAN TOUR.
QUEENSLAND AHEAD

BRISBANE, November 23,
■' There was .fine weather and a plumb wi elect to-day for the resumption of the cricket match, 'South Africa versus Queensland. There were five thousand present. There were expectations that the visitors would compile a big* score under such perfect conditions, but they were not realised. The home attack was never loose, Oxenham, the Australian test- bowler, breaking a 9tubborn partnership between Curnow and Viljoen. Taylor's brightened up the play, he scoring 48 runs in 47 minutes, including six fours and one sixer. Merkel was caught off his glove at short leg. 'McMillan looked liked making runs when he was dismissed by a brilliant catch low in the long field. There was great enthusiasm when Gilbert, the aboriginal, clean bowled Quinn, leaving Queensland with seven of a lead. The early Queensland batsmen made a poor showing against Quinn and ‘Morkel. At one stage Quinn had three for five in five overs. Gough and Hansen stopped the rot with a dogged partnership. 'Scores QUEENSLAND First Innings.
