WOMAN’S STORY

NOT CONFIRMED. (By Telegraph —Per Press Association) CHRISTCHURCH, Nov. 20. Regarding the Leithfiejd robbery story, the facts are that a report of an assault followed by robbery on a woman living alone in a small shop at Leithfield Bleach, was made this morning to the' Christchuch police. It was alleged by the womaai, Mrs Annie Elizabeth Evans,' aged 61, that two men broke into her home, thren ammonia into her eyes, seized her by the throat, bound her hand and foot to her bed, ransacked the house, and took jewellery and five pounds in money. The story ha s been investigated by the police, but no information from them is available. It is now stated that doctors, on examination of the worn pi, discovered no bruising or other hurts such as it might have been expected slie would have suffered in the encounter she described.
