Hayward, th© Reform candidate'for Dunedin North,, announced to-night that he had cTecided not to accept nomination in deference to the wish of Mr Coates. TIAIARU, November 19.. The nomination for Timaru seat of Mr H. N. Armstrong, as a Coalition Reform Candidate, took place to-day.

NELSON. November 20
Hon. H.. Atmore, .AI.P., Independent Liberal, and ex-Minister of Education in the United Cabinet, addiessod a crowded meeting in the Theatre Royal last evening. He said that be stood in the same interests as the last election, and could have been a Coalition, candidate, but seeing that all the principal portfolios, with one exception, has been handed to Reform, and that Coalition had adopted the Reform policy, it was in the interests of Nelson 'aftd th© Dominion that he should aim to support those measures calculated to advance the welfare-of the people. [■/' He condemned the Reform Party for extravagance, and the abolition of the graduated land tax. Many, members of the Coalition yere apostles of gloom who could only think in terms of increased taxation, which further increased unemployment. He preferred to tender his allegiance to the people of h'is district, rather than to a party leader.
