AFRICAN MAIL.

REGULAR (SERVICE IN NEW YEAR

RUGBY, November 18,

An air mail service between London and Capetown w: 11 open with a despatch which will leave Croydon on January 20th. The first, homeward mail will leave Capetown bn January 25th, and will reach London bn February 5-h. The whole journey in each direction will occupy eleven days, and the mails will be carried in five different types of aeroplanes in the course of llm journey. The Africa service at present ends on the Great Lakes. The first liner working on a regular schedule will puss through Juba for the south on January 27th, going via Nairobi, Mheya, Salisbury and # Johannesburg to Capetown.

BERT HINKLER ARRESTED. RIO PE JANIERO, November ,18. A despatch from Port Aleza reports 111 a-t Bert (Hinkler has been arrested there, .and his plane has been sequestrated because his papers were not in order, He was en route 'to Rio De Janiero.

The "New York Times’s” Sao Paulo correspondent states : Bert Hinkler was en route to Buenos Aires, via Rio de Janiero, when he was arrested by the authorities, after landing outside Fort Alena this , morning, ..The police, surrounding the plane, demanded his visa and his authorisation to fly over Brazilian territory, which he did not have. He was taken into custody /immediately, and his plane is held for the .State.
