MAIN TRUNK SMASH

FOURTEEN WAGGONS DERAILED. (By 'Telegraph—Per Press Association) AUCKLAND November 18. The serious derailment of a goods train occurred on the Main Trunk Lnc, south of Te Awamutu, at ten o’clock to-night. The tram involved was made up of trucks of coal. *lt left Hunt.v just before seven o’clock. The derailment occurred at Kiokio near Te Awa_ mutu, lint few details were available late to-night, as the railway telegraph lines were wrecked by the accident, communication being cut off with all .stations.

It is stated fourteen waggons lerc the line, extensive damage to the waggons and track being reported, but there was no loss of life.

Both of the expresses, which left Auckland for Wellington to-night, are held up at Frankton. A special repair train is being despatched from here.
