Charles Edward Baldwin, Trades Union Secretary of Christchurch was charged this morning with using insulting language in Cathedral Square ou November ■Bth. He was remanded until November 26th.

WELLINGTON, Nov. .18

The overseas trade figures for the Dominion for the liionfh of October, 1931, with the figures for the same period of 1930 in parenthesis, are as follows:—Exports- £1,735,450 (£2,44*,565); imports £1,862,231 (£3,691,583). The figures for the ten-monthly period ending October, 1931, with last year s figures- in parenthesis were:—Exports £29,004,574 (£39,579,645); Imports £20,960,260, (£37,040,126).

RURAL INTERMEDIATE CREDITS WELLINGTON, November 18.

At the. monthly meeting of Itlie Rural Intermediate Credit Board, the Commissioner presented a return of the arrears of interest and of instalments as at September 13th. The po'silt.ion shown was particularly gratifying, especially as the arrears of interest 1 disclosed were comparatively negligible. The arrears of principal instalments, however, had increased slightly since the last return presented, but now that the production season had commenced, it is anticipated that these will be gradually reduced, while the arrears of interest should be greatly eliminated.
