RADIO PROGRAMME
(Supplied by the Radio Broadcasting Company of N.Z. Ltd.! FRIDAY, NOYEAIBRR 13th. The Savoy Male Quartet, consisting of Messrs Bert Skeels, Frank Campbell, Arthur Gaily, and Sid Hisslop will pmvide the vocal portion of lYA’s programme this evening. The Waikiki Hawaiian Trio will play several trios, while .Miss F. AlcKain will be heard Cpr the first time at IYA in humorous numbers. Further instrumental music will be supplied by ,'tlie Salon Orchestra. Mr Reg. Slow (baritone) and Mrs E. Ransom Myers (mezzo-soprano) will present a number of solos at 2YA. A newcomer to radio in the person of Mr Arthur Brady, who styles himself as “The Lancashire Lad,” will be heard in humorous numbers, “A Coople O’ Dooks,” “Our Lad,” and “Happiest Couple in ILankasheer.” Berthold and Bent, popular guitar duo, will delight listeners in a budget of up-to-date snappy melodies. The Orchesti'ina will supply the incidental music.
On the variety programme from 3YA, will be three popular concerted numbers by the Salon Quartet—“ The Old Folks at Home,” “Home Sweet Home,” and Root’s “Laughing Chorus.” Solos by the members of the quartet—Miss Addie Campbell, Miss Dulcie Mitchell, iMr 11. J. Francis and Mr Clive Hindle—include numerous old favourites. Mr Geo. Titchener will contribute humour and popular airs will be played by Aliss •Elaine Moody’s Hawaiian Trio and by the Studio Octet, under Mr Harold Beck.
A po. ,ar programme will be broadcast by 4YA. Miss Aileen Young (soprano) and All’ John Davidson will sing a number of Scottish songs. Many old favourites will aVo be sung by Miss Betty Hamilton (mezzo-contralto),. Miss D. L. Stent!ford (contralto), Air GeoCiawford (tenor) and, Air A. Snell (baritone), while items wdl be given by Miss Eva Judd (violin), Air G. Christie (cornet) and MY Oliver Stokes (banjo).
SATURDAY, NOVEAIBER 14th. A concert by the Auckland Alunicipal Band, under the conductorship of Mr ■George Buckley, will be relayed from the Auckland Town Hall this evening. Of particular interest on ithe Band’s programme will be “Oberon,” “The ■Switch-back,” “Pas des Patineurs’’ and “The Mill in the Black Forest.” .In 2YA’s studio concert, the Salon j Orchestra, will play “Russian Fantasia,’ “Miniature Suite” (the solo.st being Air M. T. Dixon), “Fantasia on the Blue Danube,” “Ballad Memories” and the latest dance novelties. The vocal portion will be given by the Lyric Quartet (who will be heard in quartettes and solos) and Miss Gwladys Edwardes (soprano) who will sing “The Red Sarafan, ’ Saeiament" (with violin obligato), “The Gypsy Wedding,”, and “You are Aly Darling.” The singers oil -3YA’>s variety programme, will be Miss. Phyllis Coombs, Aliss Belle Renaut, and Mr Thomas ■Cooper (bass), all singing popular numbers. The Two Rascals and l/neir Rascal ettns, vaudeville . entertainers. «ill provide light amusement. There will be cornet solos by Mr R. Ohlson and the programme by the Christchurch Salon Orchestra, under Mr Francis Bate, will include .the selections “Merrie England” and Squire’s “Popular Songs. ’
