CHRISTMAS FERRY SERVICE
NO DAYLIGHT TRIPS. WELLINGTON, November 11. For the first time for several years no daylight trips between Wellington and Lyttelton will be made by the ferry steamers at Christmas time. The Union Company does not expect than the traffic will be heavier than it was last season, and is satisfied that the Wahine and Rangatira can handle everything on the ordinary night trips. Jn the past, the practice has been to run a daylight trip each way on December 23 and 24, at the peak period of inter-island travel. No day excursion from Lyttelton to- Akaroa will be run this year, as the Maori was the only ferry steamer that could get into Akaroa. .The day excursions to Picton will be run as usual.
