AMUSEMENTS.

EVERYBODYS PICCTURES. “A TAILOR MADE MAN.” TO-NIGHT AND SATURDAY.

js‘ High-pressure business, the optimism and dynamic force of youth, plus the comedy and romance that goes ■/with —these are. the keynotes of /“A Tailor Made Man,” .William • Haines’ latest Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer starring picture, now playing at the Princess Theatre.

“A Tailor Made Man,” is something new for Haines. He plays a high-pow-ered business executive, in a. story laid amid the whirling wheels of. a huge commercial machine. He salves business depression. A serious note underlies the • whimsical comedy and serves as a contrast to the romantic love story and kaleidoscopic glimpses into the whirl of modem commercial life. And Haines, though h e is as- funny as he ever was in any role has more of-a chance to do some forcefill. dramatic acting—so that the audience sees two sides of the screen s

beloved clown. Sam Wood, who did so well with Joan Crawford’s “With* in the Law,” did an equally fine job in his direction ,of the new Haines picture. There is a deftness to the Wood touch, especially when he deals with a drama of youth, that gives his productions:) a> distinctive flavour and dash. One of the best casts that ever sur- , rpunded-.Haines is . seen in the picture. ' Dorothy .' Jordan, the little waif, of “Min and Bill,” plays -the. feminine lead, as the demure daughter of the , old German tailor. Joseph Cawthorn is inimitable in the role of that old fellow, with, his broken English and great heart.
