RADIO PROGRAMME
(Supplied by the. Radio Broadcasting Company of N.Z. Ltd.) THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 12th. The IYA studio programme this evening will be of particular interest. The Auckland Society of Musicians will provide a concert consisting of the works of local composers. A studio concert by the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve Band will be broadcast by 2YA. The band will be heard in. an excellent programme of marches, overtures, and waltzes. A feature of the instrumental items will be a cornet duet, “Larboard Watch,” played by ‘Bandsmen W. Bowman and L. Baker. The vocalists for tile evening will be heard in 'solos and duets. Also on this programme will be “The Sketchers” who will provide two humorous interludes. Dr F. E. Be van Brown will be the lecturer on 3YA’s International Programme, speaking on “Some Observations on a Trip to England and Holland.” Dr Bevan Brown recently returned from a tour abroad. Silent day at 4YA.
FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 13th. The Savoy Male Quartet, consisting of Messrs Ber-fc S'keels, Frank Campbell, Arthur Gaily, and Sid Hislop will provide the vocal portion of lYA’s programme this' evening. The. 1 'Waikiki Hawaiian Trio will play several trios, while Miss F. YlcKain will be heard for the first time at IT A in humorous numbers! Further instrumental music will be supplied by 'the Salon Orchestra. •Mr -Beg. Blow (baritone) and Mrs E. Ransom Myers (mezzo-soprano) will present a’ number of solos at 2YA. A newcomer to radio in the person of Mr Arthur Brady, who styles himself as “The Lancashire Lad,” will be heard in humorous numbers, “A Coople O' Dooks,” “Our Lad,” and “Happiest Cqupie in Ikankasheer.” Berthold. and Bent, popular guitar duo, will delight listeners in a. budget of up-to-date snappy melodies. The Orchestrina will supply the incidental music.
On the variety programme from 3YA, will be three popular concerted numbers by the Salon Quartet —“The Old Folks at Home,’” “Home Sweet Home,” and Root's ‘“Laughing Chorus.” Solos by the members of the quartet—Miss 'Addle Campbell, Miss Dulcie Mitchell, Mr H. J. Francis and Mr Clive Hindleinclude numeious old favourites. Mr
Geo. Titchener will contribute humour and popular airs will be played by M-ss •Elaine Moody’s Hawaiian Trio and by the Studio Octet, under Mr Harold Beck.
A po. ,ar programme will be broadcast by 4YA. Miss Aileen Young (soprano) and All’ John Davidson will sing a number' of 'Scottish! songs. Many old favourites will aVo be sung by ' Miss Betty Hamilton (mezzo-contralto), Miss D. L. Stentiford (contralto), Mr GeoCraw,ford (tenor) and Mr A. Snell (baritone), while items will be given by Miss Eva Judd (violin), Mr G. Christie (cornet) and Mr Oliver Stokes (banjo).
