A YEAR FOR THEFT. (By Telegraph —Per Press Association) WANGANUI, November 11. William Mitchell was sentenced to a year’s imprisonment at the Supreme Court this morning for defalcations while in a position as a city accountant. Justice Reed said crimes of this sort must be punished as a detriment to others, in view of the increasiiig numbers in the Dominion. '' J PRISONERS SENTENCED.
GISBORNE, November 11. At the Supreme Court, Justice Ostler granted probation to Terrance Anthony Walters, and Adolf Conrad Joiisson for burglary. Three Maoris, Charles Ward, Paraone Tuhara, and Mo Kapamii were ordered to be detained for varying periods on charges arising out of robbery and burglary of a store at Waiomnta. tini, belonging to Waiapu Farmers’ Co-oeprative Company.
