MELBOURNE, November 9

As the result of rain the wicket was in bad condition for the resumption of the Cricket match, South Africa versus Victoria. The remaining batsmen were disposed of in forty minutes. The bad wa.s rising to a dangerous height at times. The South African innings closed for 235. The early Victorian bat-smell’s dismissal was due to the ball coming up shoulder high. After lunch the wicket was -improving, although it was still by no means in good order.

The Victorians were -dismissed in a hundred minutes. O’Brien, a lefthander, gave a resourceful display for seventy-eight minutes, hitting five boundaries.
