THE POORER, THE EASIER. It is easier for a man with £2 a week in Britain to obtain a divorce than for a man who earns £6 a week. A poor couple may obtain a decree nisi within 37 days it one of them is able to prove that the joint income does not exceed £o a week. '1 his record for speed has just been revealed by reports from poor persons committees in the provinces, dilf for the, modest outlay of 4s (id. cliff for the modest outlay of 4s 6d Monmouthshire has cut tile price down to 17s lOd. Southend complains of the difficulty in limiting costs to £o. But Bath lias set the example of divorces at £1 9s 3d and £1 13s. Such figures correspond to the £43 of the “model” hill of costs set out, in the text hooks.
The record at the opposite pole to the 4s (id divorce is one in which the costs amounted to £30,0000.
