A NEW RUBBER
SOUTH AFRICAN INVENTION. [United Press Association .i—By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.] j t NEW YORK, November 2. Following a declaration by the late T. A. Edison’s heirs, that the inventor’s efforts to devise artificial rubber from the goldenrod plant, had proved successful, jthe Dupont Denemours Company have announced the development of “Duprene’’ -synthetic rubber. It >s a composition, that is made from acetylene, salt and water. “Duprene',” which may be vulcanised by the action of heat without sulphur, -is said to be most important in that it highly resists the action of such elements injurious to true rubber as oxygen, ozone, oil and petrol.
