DOBSON MINE
STATEMENT ON THE TERMS, (By Telegraph — Pt. Press Association) WELLINGTON, November 3. Commenting on the reported settlement of the at the Dobson Mine, Hon. D, Jones, Minister or Mines, said that lie has received advice that work will be resumed on the basis of the No. 4 proposal, put forward at the conference that was arranged by himself. This’ proposal provided for the en-, gagement of 180 men and it will enable the mine to be worked a® trade warrants. Preference is to be given, firstly, to manned men and, secondly, on the principle to first to come last to go. The trucking is to be arranged on a contract basis. The details of the matter, says the Minister, are to be discussed further at a conference on Friday, and it is expected that work will be resumed early next week,' the date depending upon fresh orders being received for coal, as old orders were cancelled when work ceased and the continuity of supply could not be guaranteed.
