SEAMEN’S DECISION
TO END STRIKE. (Australian Press Association.) SYDNEY, November 3. The seamen’s strike collapsed at a meeting of the Sydney,. Branch of the Seamen’s Union this afternoon, when it was decided to return to all of the ships to-morrow. Jacob Johnson tried to address the men. who, however, howled him down. The moderates to-day outnumbered the' militants by four to one. MEN DESIRE THEIR OLD POSITION. SYDNEY, November 4: So anxious are the majority of seamen to obtain their old positions that , owners have been overwhelmed with applications for employment. Many ships are manning to-night but,.'the police are still guarding the wharver It is reported that an attempt will he made to form a Break-a-way Seamen’s Union.
