Advice lids been received that the Dutch liner ' Volendam, which is to make a cruise of the Antarctic early in the new year 1 will visit Auckland eaily in January on her way south 'Die Volendam, which is a 16,000tgii steamer of the. Holland-Anierican Line, will be* the first passenger vessel to sail to tile Antarctic, and -will beunder the command of Commander J. it. Stenfipuse,' ‘wlio“ was master of the .Aurora dtirihg Sir Ernest Shaclileton’sr trans-Antarctic expedition, and of the British research ship Discovery Jl.- • Commander Stenhouse will be assisted by Corinnari'der F. A. AVotsley, - cap--tain of the Endurance and Quest during* Shackleton’s expeditions. The vessel’s itinerary comprises Havana, Panama, Galapagos Islands, Marquesas Islands, Tahiti, Itaratonga, Auckland, Bounty Inland, Antipodes Island, Scott Island, the Boss Sea, Macquarie Island, Hobart, Sydney, Port Moresby, s Bali, Java'; Sumatra, Colombo, Bombay, Suez, Catania, Messina and Gibraltar. She will leave New York on December Id.
