IN HANMER DISTRICT.

CHRISTCHURCH, November 1

Damage running into hundreds of pounds was done to a State Forest plantation near Hamner by a fire, which broke out yesterday. It raged for four hours. About 150 acres were affected. Fanned by a strong northwest wind, the fire .spread rapidly. One hundred and fifty men had to work hard to keep it in check. PALLISER BAY WRECK. WELLINGTON, October 31. Tlie boat which was wrecked id Palliser Bay was the “Mapuhi” an auxiliary yacht. The crew comprised J. W. Stall a i'd and his two sons, Basil and Martin. All are safe. The boat is a total loss.

Harris was playing wing-three-quarter for hit club against Devonport, in the final of a seven-aside competition. He was running with the ball, when lie collapsed. The Rugby League immediately cancelled all play for the day.
